Senior Purchasing Manager

Job Description

A Senior Purchasing Manager, also known as a Materials Manager, is in charge of supervising the process of sourcing and purchasing essential materials for a company's operations. Their responsibilities include researching raw material suppliers and comparing costs, negotiating purchase agreements, and developing inventory controls to identify demand for new materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Will work closely with Planning Team, Logistic Team and Production team. 
• The current purchasing department is 20 people strong. 
• Work closely with suppliers from China, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam. 
• Ensure that suppliers adhere to internal quality standards as well as external laws.
• Conduct assessments to identify new and dependable suppliers/vendors.
• Develop and maintain trusting relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
• Develop and implement procurement best practises, procedures, and policies.
• Purchase orders should be expedited and suppliers should deliver requested items within the time frame specified.
• Create and keep an up-to-date supplier/vendor database.
• Examine business contracts for legal compliance.
• Oversee the management of supplier/vendor product cost, quality, and delivery performance.
• Direct and supervise the activities of purchasing agents to ensure effective performance of job duties.
• Seek and receive executive approval to secure purchasing contracts with new suppliers or vendors.
• Compare product prices and service quality on a regular basis to ensure that a company gets the best deals.
• Able to do department capex, budget forecast and action plan. 

Skills & Experiences

• Bachelors degree in business or minimun Diploma holder
• Minimum 10 years exeperiences Purchasing / Procurement. 
• Experience in handling large quantities of SKU - 30k SKU. 
• Experience creating demand planning and forecasting. 
• Hands on planning department capex, budget and action plan. 
• Experience sourcing for Electronic and electrical items.
• Experience with supplier / vendor management.  
• Strong communication skill in English, Bahasa Melayu and Mandarin. 
• A firm and confident people person.
