Job Description
The Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, structuring, and closing new factoring and trade finance facilities. You will act as the bridge between a client’s cash flow needs and the firm’s risk appetite, focusing on high-growth SMEs and mid-corporate companies that require liquidity through accounts receivable financing.
Key Responsibilities
- 1. Portfolio Growth & Market Expansion
- Proactively identify and acquire new clients through direct prospecting, professional networks and industrial associations.
- Build and maintain a robust referral network with "introducers" such as mortgage brokers and corporate consultants.
- Educate prospective clients on the benefits of Recourse Factoring and supply chain financing.
- 2. Credit Structuring & Financial Analysis
- Perform preliminary due diligence on prospective clients, including reviewing aging reports, financial statements, and debtor quality.
- Design facility structures that balance the clients funding requirements with the companys security requirements (e.g., determining Advance Rates and Concentration Limits).
- Prepare & present high-quality credit papers to the Credit Committee, highlighting risk mitigants and the commercial viability of the deal.
- 3. Risk & Compliance Management
- Analyze the creditworthiness of the clients main debtors to ensure a low risk of default.
- Ensure all new onboarded clients comply with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) internal policies.
- Collaborate with the Operations and Credit Administration teams to ensure a smooth transition from "Prospect" to "Active Client" status.
- 4. Relationship Management
- Maintain high levels of service during the onboarding phase to ensure long-term client retention.
- Monitor client growth to identify opportunities for facility limit increases or additional trade finance products.
- 5. Marketing and Strategic Events
- Drive lead generation and brand awareness through targeted marketing initiatives.
- Strategize, organize, and host corporate events and seminars to acquire high-value prospects.
- Serve as a keynote speaker and lead presenter to showcase product innovations and financial solutions.
- Demonstrate exceptional public speaking proficiency in English and Malay to engage diverse audiences.
Skills & Experiences
- Minimum 6 years in Business Development or Relationship Management within the Banking, Factoring, or Commercial Finance sectors.
- Degree in Finance / Marketing / Banking / Accounting / Economics, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in providing credit facilities to both Bumiputera and non-Bumiputera SMEs, with a specialized focus on contract and trade financing, invoice factoring and receivables financing
- Familiarity with industrial sectors (Manufacturing, Construction, Logistics, Services and etc) and their specific payment cycles.
- Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to explain complex financial concepts in simple terms.
